RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Nazarkin's research interests include such topics of nonlinear optics as resonant pulse propagation and frequency conversion, coherent control of quantum systems, new methods for generation of ultrafast optical pulses, nonlinear optics of few cycle optical pulses. He is also interested in the methods of fs-laser control of x-ray diffraction in crystals and nonlinear optics of hard x-rays.

ABOUT Dr. Alexander Nazarkin
He studied at Physics Department of Moscow State University (MSU) and received his diploma in Laser Physics from the Laboratory of Nonlinear Optics of MSU founded by Profs. Akhmanov and Khohlov. From 1980 to 1984 he was a PhD fellow at the Division of Quantum Radiophysics of the Lebedev Physical Institute, Moscow, headed by Nobel prize winner Prof. Basov. After receiving his PhD, he joint the Basov's laboratory as a research scientist. In 1993 he was awarded the Alexander-von-Humboldt research fellowship, and since that time he has been working in Germany. From 1997 to 2001 he was a staff scientist at the fs-laser laboratory of Max-Born Institute, Berlin. In 2002 he joint the Institute of Optics and Quantum Electronics of the University of Jena.
